Pedestrian killed on Sunset Highway remembered for good sense of humor and kind heart

The pedestrian hit and killed in Browne’s Addition earlier this month has been identified as Nicholas Demming, 40, by the Spokane County Medical Examiner.

Demming is remembered by friends and family as an outdoor loving man with a “sharp sense of humor and a full belly laugh,” according to an obituary written by family.

On Nov. 15, Demming was hit by driver Robert Findley, 24, at Sunset Highway and Cannon Street, according to police. Demming was taken to a local hospital but died the next morning, according to his obituary.

Demming is survived by his longtime partner and their three children, according to his obituary.

Findley was charged with vehicular assault and his arraignment is set for Tuesday morning.

After the initial incident, multiple cars crashed into the crime scene, resulting in arrests for driving under the influence.
