College baseball: WSU, Whitworth have big days at plate in taking easy victories

Hayden Rosenkrantz struck out six and gave up one run over 5 2/3 innings and Washington State collected 15 hits in beating Cal State Northridge 10-1 in Pullman on Sunday.

Rosenkrantz (2-1) was backed up by relievers Davis Baillie, Bryce Moyle and Zane Mills, who combined to give up just three hits.

Garrett Gouldsmith and Danny Sinatro had three hits each, including a triple apiece. They both had two RBIs. Dillon Drew, Kodie Kolden and Anthony Notaro had two hits each with Drew driving in three.

The Cougars scored two runs in each of the first two innings and added three in the both the third and seventh innings.

The victory clinched a second straight series for Washington State (6-8). Northridge is 8-8.

Whitworth 12, Pacific 2: Ryan Kingma (3-2) gave up only two runs over seven innings and the Pirates (7-9, 4-2 Northwest Conference) pounded out 16 hits in taking the win over the Boxers (12-6, 6-3) in Spokane.

Nichholas Nerud, Taylor Poppenroth and Cody Simmons had three hits each with Simmons driving in three as did Casey Isa, who had two hits. Liam Fitzpatrick also had two hits.
