PULLMAN – Washington State’s newest verbal pledge fits the profile of Mason Miller’s ideal offensive lineman. Patrick Utschinski is both big and vertical.

WSU’s offensive line coach hinted at Patrick Utschinski’s commitment to the Cougars Monday night with this tweet: “There is BIG news tonight!!! Fired up!!! Sighting #sasquatch #GoCougs.”

Not long after, the 6-7, 280-pound offensive tackle from Walla Walla sent out his own tweet, officially committing to Miller and the Cougars.

Utschinski plays at Walla Walla High School and is listed as a three-star recruit by 247sports.com. He also had offers from Oregon State, Idaho, Montana State, Eastern Washington and Stephen F. Austin.

The Cougars had just four verbal commits prior to last week, but have picked up two more since then. Peni Naulu, an outside linebacker from Kapolei, Hawaii, verbally pledged to WSU last Wednesday and Utschinski, the first offensive lineman of the 2019 class, made it six on Monday.
