Garage, car burned in Spokane Valley fire

Firefighters responded to a garage fire in Spokane Valley at 4:45 p.m. Thursday that also burned part of a car, but quickly put it out before it could spread to the nearby home.

The fire, at 18800 E. Marlin Dr., required nine fire trucks to respond, according to a news release.

The homeowner did not have working fire detectors and called in the fire. No one was reported injured in the fire, and the cause is under investigation, the news release stated.
