Man arrested in Spokane Valley for stealing from breakfast bar, swinging at deputy
Deputies arrested a man who had sneaked into a Spokane Valley hotel breakfast bar and then tried to hit a deputy Tuesday.
Spokane County sheriff’s deputies used a stun gun to subdue the man, Tanner Perkins, 25, who appeared to be on drugs, according to a Spokane Valley Police Department news release.
Perkins had walked into the Holiday Inn Express located at 9222 E. Mission in Spokane Valley and started eating breakfast. Employees of the hotel asked him to leave “but he refused and began yelling at the staff.”
Spokane County Sheriff’s Deputies responded to the hotel and asked Perkins to leave the property several times before escorting him outside.
Perkins “began to ramble, pace back and forth, and appeared to become more agitated.”
He spit toward a patrol car twice, picked up a lunch bag and swung it at a deputy’s face. The deputy moved away but was grazed.
A deputy shocked Perkins with a Taser stun gun and arrested him for third-degree assault.
After being stunned, Perkins is reported to have told officers, “Man that thing really worked bro.” He was booked into the Spokane County Jail.
