Girls basketball: Hailey Marlow’s 13 points helps West Valley defeat Cheney

Hailey Marlow scored 13 points and West Valley (2-3 GNL) defeated visiting Cheney (2-3) 57-49 in Great Northern League play on Tuesday.

Maggie Smith led Cheney with 15 points.

Clarkston 57, East Valley 55: The Bantams (9-2, 4-1), rated eighth in state 2A in the latest WIAA RPI, knocked off the No. 1 Knights (11-1, 4-1).

Northeast 1A

Medical Lake 55, Lakeside (WA) 50: Jayce Oliver scored 11 points and the visiting eighth-rated Cardinals (6-0 NEA) defeated the No. 11 Eagles (5-1). Hallie Jensen led Lakeside with 21 points and 19 rebounds.

Freeman 42, Deer Park 23: Isabelle Miller scored 11 points and the visiting Scotties (4-2 NEA) beat the Stags (1-5). Taylor Lyons led Deer Park with eight points.

Colville 52, Newport 39: Hallie Cox and Kaitlyn Petrey scored 13 points apiece and the Indians (3-3 NEA) beat the visiting Grizzlies (3-3). Alika led Newport with 17 points.

Chewelah 51, Riverside 35: Alyssa Fitzgerald scored 18 points and the Cougars (2-4 NEA) rolled past the visiting Rams (0-6). Ava West led the Rams with nine points.

Northeast 2B

Davenport 55, Lind-Ritzville/Sprague 34: Sydney Zeiler scored 17 points and the Gorillas (8-1 NE2B) defeated the Broncos (3-5). Eliza Galbreath and Linnea Shafer led Lind-Ritzville/Sprague with nine points apiece.

St. George’s 48, Liberty 47: Ceci Bergquist shot the go-ahead free throws in the final seconds and the Dragons (7-1 NE2B) beat the visiting Lancers (5-2). Bergquist scored 14 points with four 3-pointers and Maisie Burnham led Liberty with 22 points.

Northeast 1B

Almira/Coulee-Hartline’s 36, Valley Christian 30: Almira/Coulee-Hartline’s Gabi Isaak and Valley Christian’s Phoebe Trigsted both broke the 1,000 career point plateau as the Panthers (6-1 NE1B) edged the Warriors (3-3).

Selkirk 69, Republic 17: Jenna Couch tallied 19 points with eight steals and the Rangers (8-0 NE1B) defeated the visiting Tigers (1-7). Kailee Rittel scored six points for Republic.

Curlew 66, Northport 50: Hannah McIrvin scored 19 points with eight rebounds and the Cougars (6-2 NE1B) defeated the visiting Mustangs (3-5). Hailey Young led Northport with 19 points.

Inchelium 55, Cusick 42: Meika Heath recorded 18 points with 17 rebounds and the Hornets (5-2 NE1B) defeated the visiting Panthers (2-6). Gracie StrangeOwl paced Cusick with 13 points.

Wellpinit 67, Odessa 37: Mariah Sherwood scored 20 points and the visiting Redskins (4-4 NE1B) raced past the Tigers (2-5). Maddy Wagner led the Tigers with 15 points.

Nonleague

Garfield-Palouse 46, Lakeside (ID) 28: Katie Arrasmith scored 25 points and the visiting Vikings coasted past the Knights. Tara Allen led the Knights with 10 points.

Pomeroy 56, Dayton 15: Emma Severs scored 15 points and the visiting Pirates defeated the Bulldogs. Tatum Laughery paced Dayton with seven points.

Idaho

Post Falls 61, Lake City 22: Melody Kempton scored 16 points and the Trojans (3-0 IEL5A) downed the visiting Timberwolves (2-1) in a 5A Inland Empire League game. Klaire Mitchell led the Timberwolves with nine points.

Timberlake 55, Bonners Ferry 43: Shelby Starr scored 14 points and the Tigers (4-0 IML) downed the visiting Badgers (1-1) in an Intermountain League game. Miranda Wenk scored 22 points for the Badgers.

Genesis Prep 61, Clark Fork 35: Rachel Schroater scored 20 points and the visiting Jaguars (4-0 WSL) defeated the Wampus Cats (0-3) in a White Star League game. Bella Murekatete scored 19 points with 16 rebounds and 13 assists for Genesis Prep.

Sandpoint 58, Kellogg 30: Grace Kirscher scored 20 points and the Bulldogs defeated the visiting Wildcats in a nonleague game. Katlyn Senteny led Kellogg with 15 points.
