Boys basketball: Caleb Berquist’s overtime shot lifts Colfax in 2B

Caleb Berquist scored 23 points, including the winning layup with three seconds left in overtime and Colfax (17-6) defeated Northwest Christian (15-10) 54-53 in the District 7 2B tournament at West Valley on Thursday.

The Bulldogs will advance to play Saturday for a shot at the district’s third seed to the state tournament.

Reed Loranger scored 17 points and Eckhelo Simpson notched 14 for Northwest Christian, which was eliminated.

Davenport 64, Lind-Ritzville/Sprague 53: A.J. Floyd scored 14 points and the Gorillas (14-11) raced past the Broncos (13-11).

Tanner Abbott and Izaiah Bowdish scored 12 points apiece and Peyton Buchanan added 10 for Davenport, which will next play Colfax.

Bryce Kelly led Lind-Ritzville/Sprague with 19 points and Austin Thompson tacked on 10.
