Jaret Anderson-Dolan’s hat trick guides Spokane Chiefs past Tri-City Americans
KENNEWICK – Jaret Anderson-Dolan recorded a hat trick, and he and Kailer Yamamoto finished with five points apiece Saturday to spark the Spokane Chiefs to a 6-3 win over the Tri-City Americans in Western Hockey League play at Toyota Center.
Ty Smith and Ethan McIndoe added one goal and two assists apiece to help the Chiefs (30-19-3-2, 65 points) gain some distance on Tri-City (27-19-7-1, 62) and Seattle, which also has 62 points, in the chase for third place in the U.S. Division. First-place Everett (74 points) and Portland (72) are ahead of Spokane in the division.
Anderson-Dolan, who has 32 goals, notched his second hat trick of the season. He scored 6 minutes, 1 second into the game to give Spokane a 1-0 lead. He scored at 8:48 of the third for a 4-2 lead and added an empty-netter with 45 seconds left.
Smith scored at 7:29 in the second period to tie the game at 2. McIndoe’s power-play goal 24 seconds later put the Chiefs ahead for good.
Yamamoto’s 12th goal of the season gave the Chiefs a 5-3 lead with 7:14 remaining. Yamamoto moved into a tie for 11th on the Chiefs’ career scoring list with 269 points.
Dawson Weatherill stopped 25 of 28 shots to earn the win.
Spokane finished its seven-game road trip with a 5-0-2 record, winning the final four to match a season high set Jan. 17-24.
The Chiefs are 4-4 against the Americans this season, with four games remaining against the top rivals.
