Man sustains life-threatening injuries after crashing into RVs near Barker Road
A 20-year-old Silver Valley man suffered life-threatening injuries Thursday night after crashing into an RV business on Barker Road near the I-90 interchange.
According to Washington State Police, a car with four young adults on their way to Scarywood shot through a red light near the eastbound Barker exit around 5 p.m., crashed through a fence and hit multiple RVs and the business center at RVs Northwest.
Witnesses told WSP Trooper Scott Lasher the car was going about 80 mph when it went through the intersection and plowed into the other vehicles.
“It appears to be a medical situation where the driver of the car had a seizure or a seizure-like event,” Lasher said.
Three other passengers weren’t wearing their seat belts, Lasher said, but suffered minor injuries.
Employees of the RV business said they saw a “flash of gray” before it crashed into the RVs and were worries the car was going to catch fire when it came to a rest.
WSP initially reported on Twitter that the crash resulted in a fatality, but later gave an update noting the driver had life-threatening injuries and was undergoing surgery.
