Architect Claire Kincaid-Slate has joined Bernardo|Wills Architects. Kincaid-Slate is currently working on the Bow & Aero Medical Office Building in Cheney and a tenant improvement at the Community Health Association of Spokane’s Urgent Care Center in Spokane Valley.

ALSC Architects has announced Mackenzie Roark as an interior design intern. She is working on Jim Darcy Elementary School in Helena, Amistad Elementary School in Kennewick and the expansion of the Northern Quest Resort & Casino. She is majoring in interior design at Washington State University.

Insurance

The Independent Insurance Agents and Brokers of Washington has named Dave Gregory of Stonebraker McQuary Insurance the 2017 Agent of the Year.

Law

John Gunn has joined Elder Law Group PLLC as a paralegal. Gunn will assist attorneys and help answer client questions. He has more than 10 years of estate planning and probate experience.

Miscellaneous

Dan, Jill and Shaylin King have earned the Excellence in Leadership Award and Top Gun honors at the Mr. Rooter Plumbing 2017 international conference. The Excellence in Leadership Award is given to model business owners who positively affect others, and the Top Gun award recognizes franchise owners achieving operational benchmarks among the top 10 percent in the country.

Real estate

Tom Moore and Kathy Edlund have opened a United Country Real Estate franchise in Hayden. United Country Real Estate | Northwest Land and Lifestyle Properties will represent buyers and sellers of properties ranging from timberland to luxury estates. Moore is a forester with 14 years of experience with private industrial lumber companies and has five years of experience buying and selling timberland. Edlund, a land-use specialist and broker, has 10 years of real estate experience, specializing in land valuation, property development and negotiation.

Because of a reporter error, Tom Moore’s name was misspelled in the Oct. 15 Business Beat column.

Tourism

The Moscow Chamber of Commerce has awarded the quarterly Supporting Tourism And Recreation Award to the American Society of Mammologists convention, which was held in June in Moscow. Janet Rachlow, a professor in the Department of Fish and Wildlife Sciences at the University of Idaho, and Ryan Long, assistant professor in the Department of Fish and Wildlife Sciences, helped coordinate the convention. Rachlow will accept the award on behalf of the two. More than 400 professional scientists and students attended the convention.
