Gonzaga-Incarnate Word: 3 keys to the Bulldogs’ 103-68 win

  (The Spokesman-Review)

Key moment

The opening tip is about as good a place to start as any. The Zags ripped off 17 unanswered points to open up a 19-2 lead with 14:23 left in the first half. Johnathan Williams had three layups and Killian Tillie, Silas Melson and Josh Perkins each made 3-pointers.

Offensive player of the game

Junior guard Josh Perkins continued his hot shooting, knocking down all four of his 3-point attempts and all six of his shots from the field. He finished with 16 points, three rebounds, three assists and no turnovers in 20 minutes. Perkins is 28 of 50 on 3-pointers (56 percent) this season.

Defensive player of the game

Sophomore Killian Tillie didn’t play a lot of minutes (15) but he helped keep UIW’s Simi Socks, who came in averaging a team-high 14.6 points, in check. Socks was just 3 of 8 in the first half and he finished 12 points primarily against the defense of Tillie and Rui Hachimura.
