Gonzaga pitcher Eli Morgan continues to turn heads
Gonzaga Bulldogs junior right-hander Eli Morgan continues to pile up the awards in college baseball’s young season.
For the third straight week, Morgan was named the Rawlings/West Coast Conference Pitcher of the Week. And the Palos Verde, California, native also garnered his second consecutive National Player of the Week honor from Collegiate Baseball, which picks the top 10 players across the nation each week.
Morgan just missed a no-hitter in his start last Friday against Pacific to open WCC play. Morgan’s only blemish was a two-out single in the eighth inning. He struck out 13 and didn’t issue any walks. He needed just 85 pitches to register his second straight shutout and the sixth of his career.
