Nelson homers but Whitworth loses 6-3 to Willamette

Willamette took a 6-3 win over Whitworth on Sunday in Tacoma despite a three-run homer by Matthew Nelson.

Jack Brett slugged a three-run homer for the Bearcats (11-5, 7-2 Northwest Conference) in a four-run first inning.

The Pirates (6-6, 0-5) were held to five hits, two by Nelson.

Matthew Young pitched seven innings and (0-2) took the loss.
