Gonzaga Prep’s Anton Watson’s first Division I offer came from a school close to home.

The 6-foot-7 junior forward met with Gonzaga coaches earlier this week. Watson posted on Twitter that he was “excited to receive my first D-1 offer from Gonzaga University.”

Watson said he’s also talked with Washington and Washington State.

Watson was the Greater Spokane League MVP as a sophomore. He’s helped the Bullpups to consecutive GSL titles and a pair of third-place finishes at the State 4A Tournament. He averaged 19 points last season.

Watson made USA Today’s All-Washington second-team, joining incoming Gonzaga recruit Corey Kispert of King’s High.

Watson’s father, Deon, was a standout forward for the University of Idaho from 1991-94.
