Firefighters quickly doused a wildfire that threatened homes in Grant County on Monday afternoon.
At about noon, the Grant County Sheriff’s Office began urging residents to prepare to evacuate an area immediately west of the towns of Lakeview and Soap Lake. But by 2 p.m. the Sheriff’s Office said crews were mopping up the so-called Sheep Canyon fire.
It wasn’t immediately clear how much land had burned. The Sheriff’s Office tweeted a photo of a blaze near a power pole along state Route 20.
No injuries were reported.
