Whitworth sweeps softball doubleheader in Los Angeles

Whitworth (4-2) swept a softball doubleheader from host Occidental (0-2) in Los Angeles, 2-0 and 4-2, on Sunday.

Tessa Matthews and Michelle Silva drove in runs to back up Madi Perez, who pitched a four-hit shutout with no walks.

Matthews had three hits in the second game and Natalie Edlin drove in the go-ahead runs with a two-RBI double in the sixth inning. Sarah Ballinger, the first of three Pirates pitchers, got the win.
