Spokane Empire sign wide receivers Carl Sims and Bryan Pray

From staff and wire reports

The Indoor Football League’s all-time leading wide receivers could call Spokane home in 2017.

The Empire announced on Friday the signings of Carl Sims (6-foot-0, 190 pounds) and Bryan Pray (5-foot-7, 185). Sims, returning for his second season with the Empire, is second all-time with 4,828 receiving yards. Pray, who has played for seven seasons for four different IFL teams, is first all-time with 4,967.

Pray, a Pittsburgh State product, finished with 769 yards, 54 receptions and 12 touchdowns in 10 games for the Iowa Barnstormers. He has been named second-team All-IFL twice (2013 and 2016).

Sims was initially listed on the inactive list with a wrist injury. He racked up 822 yards (first on Spokane) and 20 touchdowns last season with the Empire.

Spokane also signed defensive lineman Harold Love III on Friday.

The Empire also announced they released wide receiver Thomas Shuler, offensive linemen Larry Mazyck and Mikingston Marasaille, defensive lineman Pat McNeil and defensive back Malcolm Griggs. Wide receiver Orlandus Harris Sr. was added to the refuse to report list.

Spokane’s training-camp roster now sits at 34 players. The Empire’s roster must be dwindled down to 25 players by the team’s season-opener on Feb. 23 against Green Bay.
