No serious injuries in four vehicle collision near Vantage in Grant County

Three passenger vehicles and a semi truck were involved in a collision on State Highway 243 north of Beverly Burke Road in Grant County early this morning.

At about 6 a.m., the shipping container hauled by the semi truck detached and struck two other vehicles, said Grant County Sheriff’s deputy and spokesman Kyle Foreman.

Some of the passengers were hurt, but none seriously, said Washington State Patrol trooper and spokesman John Bryant.

“It’s fortunate,” Bryant said. “I don’t know for sure but it tells me everyone was wearing their seat belt. It’s amazing the things you can survive.”

Bryant said the road is open but he said to expect delays as emergency crews work to remove the vehicles and overturned semi from the sides of the road. He said it could take up to five hours before the roadway is cleared.
