Chiefs trade for forward

The Spokane Chiefs announced have acquired 19-year-old forward Tanner Wishnowski from the Kelowna Rockets in exchange for the rights to 16-year-old forward Colum McGauley.

Wishnowski, a 6-foot, 186-pound winger from Oakbank, Manitoba, scored seven goals and added six assists in 54 games during his rookie WHL season last year.

McGauley was the Chiefs’ fourth round (75th overall) pick in the 2015 WHL Bantam Draft out of Nelson, B.C.

Washington State is ranked No. 18 in the latest AVCA Coaches Top 25 and Pac-12-leader Washington is No. 7.

the cougars play at Arizona State on Wednesday (7 p.m., Pac-12 Wash.) and at Arizona on Friday (6 p.m., Pac-12 Wash.)

Players of the week

Idaho junior quarterback Matt Linehan was chosen the Sun Belt Conference Offensive Player of the Week after a career night in leading the Vandals past New Mexico State last Saturday. Linehan’s career-best 476 yards rank fifth on Idaho’s all-time single game list. He accomplished it by completing 29 of 36 passes - four of which were for touchdowns. He had an efficiency rating of 222.73 for the game.
