Whitworth men, women golf teams take fifth at tournament

The Whitworth men’s and women’s golf teams finished fifth in the Northwest Conference Fall Classic played at Emerald Valley Golf Resort in Creswell, Oregon, on Sunday.

JackRyan O’Neil tied for ninth at 8-over 152 in the two-round tournament, six strokes behind champion Trent Jones of Willamette, who defeated Kyle Drugge of Pacific Lutheran in a playoff.

Whitworth finished 39 over, 26 back of champion PLU.

Maggie Peters led the Whitworth women at 27-over 171 to tie for 19th. Sydney Maluenda of George Fox won at even par.

George Fox was the team champ at 29 over. Whitworth finished at 118 over.
