A man who reportedly shot at his ex-girlfriend led police on a chase in North Spokane early Friday morning.

Police then arrested Montreal L. Morgan, 20, on suspicion of domestic violence assault, violation of a protection order, attempting to elude police and unlawful possession of a firearm.

The victim told police that Morgan chased her in her vehicle and fired three shots at her near Bridgeport Avenue and Division Street just before 2:30 a.m. Friday, according to court documents. He reportedly continued chasing her and rammed her vehicle in the area of Providence and Lidgerwood just before police arrived.

Police say Morgan sped away and then left his car near Providence and Morton to run away. Officers captured him blocks away near Hogan and Desmet after 5 a.m.

Morgan reportedly called the victim while she was being interviewed by police. An officer heard him tell the victim that he hadn’t meant to hit her and that he was worried about his fingerprints being on the ammunition, court documents state.
