Wastewater practices earn notice

From staff reports

Three Spokane businesses have been recognized for good stewardship by pretreating wastewater before sending it into pipes to the city sewer plant.

Alsco-Steiner Corp./American Linen Division, Global Metal Technologies and Johanna Beverage Co. all achieved 100 percent compliance with pretreatment of their discharges.

The pretreatment is required under their industrial wastewater permits.

The pretreatment helps the city efficiently treat and clean wastewater before it is discharged into the Spokane River, according to a news release.
