Women’s soccer: Portland edges Gonzaga 1-0
Noelle La Prevotte’s 31st-minute goal was enough to send Portland past Gonzaga 1-0 in a West Coast Conference match Saturday in Portland.
Each team had eight shots apiece. The Bulldogs (2-11-5, 1-6-1) host No. 15 Santa Clara next Saturday in their final match of the season.
Portland improved to 7-11 overall and 3-5 in the WCC.
Loggers top Pirates 3-0
Amalia Acorda-Fey scored a goal in each half and Puget Sound blanked Whitworth 3-0 in a Northwest Conference match in Parkland, Washington.
Cassie Winter also scored for the Loggers (13-0-4, 9-0-4), who had a 17-6 shot advantage.
The Pirates (3-11-2, 2-7-2) play at NWC foe Pacific Lutheran on Sunday.
Overland’s two goals leads CCS to win
Alysha Overland scored twice to power Community Colleges of Spokane past Walla Walla 5-0 in a Northwest Athletic Conference regular-season finale at Spokane Falls Community College.
Sarah Melvin, Maddy Boyd and Stephanie Overland also scored for the Sasquatch (13-2-1, 10-2), who will enter the NWAC Championships as the East division’s top seed. They have a first-round bye and will host a quarterfinal match next Saturday.
Walla Walla (6-8-3, 5-6-1) is finished for the season.
Wenatchee Valley tops North Idaho 3-1
Megan Lowery, Katelyn Sly and Alex Rankin scored goals to lift North Idaho past Wenatchee Valley 3-1 in an NWAC match in Wenatchee.
The win gave the Cardinals (10-5-2, 8-3-1) the East division’s second seed. They’ll host Chemeketa in the first round of the NWAC Championships on Wednesday.
Wenatchee Valley finished its season 2-10-2 overall and 1-9-2 in conference matches.
