10 Under $10: Fun on the cheap

1. “Beetlejuice” 2 p.m. Saturday, Spokane Public Library - Downtown , 906 W. Main Ave. This Tim Burton comedy stars Geena Davis and Alec Baldwin as newlydeads trying to survive the afterlife in their own home. When new residents move in, they hire a veteran scaremeister: a yellow-haired, snaggle-toothed, profane, flatulent “gonzo” spirit named Beetlejuice (Michael Keaton). 92 minutes, PG. (509) 444-5336. 2. WSU Jazz Festival All day, Wednesday, Washington State University, Pullman. A day of free jazz performances. A noon concert will feature WSU faculty performing with the award-winning WSU Jazz Big Band, with visiting saxophonist and WSU alumnus Horace Alexander in Bryan Hall Theatre. 4. Tubaween 6 p.m. Saturday, University of Idaho, Lionel Hampton School of Music, Haddock Performance Hall, 1010 Blake Ave., Moscow. This festive production put on by university students features high energy tuba playing on a low budget. The production will feature a combination of solos, duets and ensemble recitals. 5. Free Museum Day 11-5 p.m. Saturday, Museum of North Idaho, 115 Northwest Blvd., Coeur d’Alene. Final day to see the feature exhibit “History Outside the Museum” highlighting historic buildings, structures and sites in the Coeur d’Alene region. Also highlighted are the gone, but not forgotten, buildings like the Wilma Theatre. Museum will close for the season after Saturday, and re-open in April. (208) 664-3448. Admission: FREE

6. 12th Annual Ghoul Ol’ Fashioned Halloween Fun 4:30-7 p.m. Friday and noon-4 p.m. Saturday, Camp Dart-Lo, 14000 N. Dartford Drive. Join our Camp Fire volunteers for spooky, safe and family friendly Halloween fun. Put on your scrubs and grab your stethoscope to walk through the Not-So-Haunted Hospital. Dig around in the Treat Hunt. Satisfy your sweet tooth and Roast-A-Ghost. Look your cutest (or scariest, or most creative) in the Costume Parade. Search around on Pluto’s Un-Nature Trail. 7. Inside Story 6:30 p.m. Friday, Barnes & Noble - Spokane Valley, 15310 E. Indiana Ave., Spokane Valley. Join children’s and young adult authors from the Inland Northwest Society of Children’s Book Writers and Authors and learn the “inside story” behind their 2015 releases.
