Men’s soccer: Whitworth suffers first defeat

Whitworth suffered its first loss of the season on Saturday, falling 2-0 to Pacific Lutheran in a Northwest Conference match in Parkland, Washington.

Eddie Na scored both of the Lutes’ (12-4, 8-2) goals.

Whitworth was limited to just one shot in the first half and were outshot 12-7 for the match. Pirates’ keeper Timmy Costa made six saves.

Whitworth (12-1-1, 8-1-1) plays Puget Sound in Tacoma on Sunday.

CCS plays to 1-all draw with Treasure Valley

Community Colleges of Spokane’s Breno Rocha scored in the first half and Treasure Valley’s Gerardo Bartolo scored the equalizer in the second half as the Sasquatch and Chukars (7-7-4, 4-5-4) played to a 1-all Northwest Athletic Conference draw in Ontario, Oregon.

CCS (9-4-4, 7-3-3) plays North Idaho on Wednesday at Spokane Falls Community College.

Walla Walla tops North Idaho

Juan Sanchez and Anthony Arroyo scored to lead Walla Walla (8-3-6, 6-3-4) past North Idaho 2-1 in an NWAC match in Walla Walla.

Macoy McLaughlin scored the Cardinals’ (5-8-4, 3-6-4) lone goal in the 76th minute.
