Obituary: Koch, Daniel

KOCH, Daniel I was born in the early summer of 1923 with the assistance of my father to Russian immigrants Peter John and Katherine (Knopp) Koch in a home near Paul Idaho.

I went home to my Savior on September 28, 2015.

I was the 12th of 13 children (9 boys 4 girls) and was the last living child of my family.

In my early life my family were farmers, and sheepherders.

We were homesteaders that worked hard to just survive.

We had no electricity, no running water, and our work and transportation was by horse.

I worked on our family farm and for other farmers until the age of 18.

I survived the cold winters of southern Idaho, the Great Depression, and World War two.

My first marriage was to Alice Jenks, 1944 and we had eight children: Alice (Gary Cummins, Spokane, WA.)

Keith (Peggy Koch, Leavenworth, WA.)

Renney Koch (deceased) Connie (Les Rucker, Reardan, WA.)

Christie (John Rummer, Colfax, WA.)

Kalona (Gorge Baltodano, Costa Rica) Arlene Koch (Logan, Utah), Susie (Dale Blank, Spokane, WA).

My second marriage was to Betty Meyers 1968 with three step children: Chuck Meyers (Terrie, Nine Miles Falls, WA.)

Sue Sapp, (Airway Heights, WA.)

Mike Meyers (deceased) I served in the army during WW II 1944 to 1946 and after my discharge I farmed in the Paul, Idaho area until 1954.

I then moved my family to the Spokane area and worked for Artistic Iron works as a welder and fabricator till my retirement in 1980.

Fishing, camping, and wintering in Arizona, helping family, friends and neighbors was my enjoyment.

In 1968 my true life began when I was Baptized into the body of Jesus Christ, this is when I began to be a true husband, father, and grandpa.

I have 23 grandchildren, 43 great-grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren.

Preceded in my death are my patents; eight brothers; four sisters; Betty (wife); two sons; one son-in-law.

Come and Celebrate my life with my family Friday October 9th 11:00 am at: Ball & Dodd Funeral Home 5100 W. Wellesley Ave. Spokane, WA.

99205, with Pastor Mark Officiating.
