WSU student killed in Highway 195 crash near Rosalia
One Washington State University student died in a crash on Highway 195 near Rosalia Friday and another was seriously injured.
Spokane resident Christine N. Hunter, 18, was driving a Volkswagen Beetle north on Highway 195 just outside of Rosalia arund 5 p.m. when she drifted across the centerline and hit a truck driven by Joseph N. Jacobs, 26, head on, according to the Washington State Patrol.
Hunter died of her injuries and her passenger, 18-year-old Sidney Z. Ritter of Spokane, was airlifted to Providence Sacred Heart Medical Center with serious injuries. Both had WSU identification, said WSP spokesman Trooper Jeff Sevigney.
There are no indications that alcohol was involved, Sevigney said.
Jacobs was not injured. One of his passengers, 23-year-old Taylor J. Spence, was injured and also taken to Sacred Heart.
