School stages raising their curtains
Ferris High School’s production of “Shrek the Musical,” based on the film, opens Thursday.
The musical follows the story of Shrek, a swamp-dwelling ogre, his sidekick, Donkey, and Princess Fiona, along with other fairy tale characters such as the Gingerbread Man and the Three Blind Mice.
“Shrek the Musical” stars Logan Birch as Shrek, Audrey Cosgrove as Fiona, CJ Lorentz as Donkey and Josh Bruggemeier as Lord Farquaad. Staff members will make special cameos.
Tickets are $10 in advance, $12 at the door, $6 for seniors on Thursdays. Performances are 7 p.m. Thursday-Saturday and Nov. 19-21 at the school, 3020 E. 37th Ave.
North Central puts on ‘Harvey’
North Central High School’s production of “Harvey” opens Friday.
The play follows Veta Louise Simmons and her daughter, Myrtle Mae, both of whom live with Veta’s brother, Elwood P. Dowd and Elwood’s friend, Harvey, a 6-foot-tall, invisible rabbit.
“Harvey” stars Logan McHenry-Kroetch as Myrtle Mae, Megan Jones as Veta, Brianna Walsh as Mrs. Ethel Chauvenet, Carver Bain as Elwood P. Dowd, Angelina Stanley as Miss Johnson, Sarah Lewis as Ruth Kelly R.N., Lee Jack as Duane Wilson, River Holbrook as Lyman Sanderson M.D., David Song as William Chumley M.D., Miranda Street as Betty Chumley, Darin Anderson as Judge Omar Gaffney and Frankie Fuchs as E.J. Lofgren.
Performances are Friday-Saturday and Nov. 19-21 at 7:30 p.m. at the school, 1600 N. Howard St. Tickets are $6, or $5 with GSL card or for seniors, and are available in the North Central Business Office during school hours and at the door before each performance. Children younger than 5 will not be admitted.
Northwest Christian takes on ‘Earnest’
Northwest Christian School’s production of “The Importance of Being Earnest” opens Sunday.
The play follows two young men, Jack Worthing, who invents a brother named Earnest in order to visit a woman named Gwendolyn, and Algernon Moncrieff, who takes the name of Earnest when visiting a ward of Worthing’s named Cecily, as their deceptions come to light.
“The Importance of Being Earnest” stars Josh Dawson as John Worthing, Charles Williamson as Algernon Moncrieff, Gage Cadwallader as the Rev. Canon Chausuble, Wendy Zhang as Merri, Paige Meyer as Lilly, Rebekah Henry as Lady Bracknell, Brook Pickett as the Hon. Gwendolyn Fairfax, Carlea Baughn as Cecily Cardew and Naomi Busch as Miss Prism.
Performances are 7 p.m. Sunday and Monday at the school, 5104 E. Bernhill Road, Colbert. Tickets are $5 at the door.
Windsor’s Lungo earns PE award
Cheney Public Schools recently announced that Windsor Elementary School teacher Dustin Lungo has been chosen as the State Elementary Physical Education Teacher of the Year by the Society of Health and Physical Educators.
Lungo is now eligible for SHAPE America’s District Teacher of the Year Award. District winners then become eligible for the National Award.
