Driver suspected of I-90 hit-and-run arrested

A driver suspected of fleeing the scene of an accident in Spokane Valley was arrested near Post Falls Wednesday morning after crashing his car. After the hit-and-run accident on Interstate 90, a Spokane County Sheriff’s Deputy reported seeing the suspect car driving east on I-90 at more than 100 miles per hour around 6 a.m., according to a Kootenai County Sheriff’s Office press release. The deputy gave chase and followed the car onto Prairie Avenue in Post Falls. As Kootenai County Deputies caught up to the chase in the area of Prairie and Meyer Road, the driver attempted to pass a car by driving on the right shoulder. The driver lost control and crashed into a barbed wire fence. The driver, identified as 23-year-old Cody L. Coleman of Hauser, was arrested without incident. He was not injured in the crash but was taken to Kootenai Health because he “was not feeling well,” the press release said. Coleman was booked into the Kootenai County Jail on a charge of reckless driving. Deputies are currently investigating whether he should be charged with driving under the influence as well.
