Obituary: Dashiell, Melvin Homer
Age 90
Melvin was born on July 26, 1924 to Robert and Myrtle Dashiell, joining sisters Mary and Cora and brothers Ernest and Frank.
Mel started his schooling at Huckleberry School on Harvey Creek, then graduated from Columbia High School in Hunters, WA in 1943.
He married Lillie Anderson on November 5th, 1944 and they lived on Harvey Creek where he farmed and raised cattle.
He also worked for Stevens County Road Department for 25 years.
Mel loved the outdoors and enjoyed fishing, hunting, camping, water skiing, and picking huckleberries.
He was a loyal fan of Columbia High School sports as well as the Seattle Seahawks and Seattle Mariners.
He especially enjoyed traveling to events that involved his grandchildren.
He is survived by daughter Marcia Dashiell of Portland, OR, and sons Ray and wife Susan of Davenport, WA, Fred and wife Loretta of Cedonia, WA, and Ed and wife Julie of Cedonia, WA., grandchildren: Tanya Dashiell of Airway Heights, WA, Nathan and Andrea Dashiell of Gig Harbor, WA, Katie and Markus Burns of Spokane, WA, Charlie Dashiell of Cedonia, WA, Tyson and JulieAnn Dashiell of Cedonia, WA and great-grandchildren: Harper and Marin Dashiell, Cora and June Burns.
He was preceded in death by his parents Robert in 1965, Myrtle in 1970, infant daughters, Marlene and Darlene in 1945, sisters Mary and Cora in 1996, brothers Ernie in 2002 and Frank in 2006.
A memorial of his life will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, March 14th at Cedonia Community Church.
