Pot plants found growing on Clark Fork Delta

Staff reports
Idaho Department of Fish and Game employees have found illegal marijuana plants growing on the Clark Fork Delta for two years in a row. The patches were discovered during restoration efforts that including erosion control and planting of native grasses on the delta, which is where the Clark Fork River empties into Lake Pend Oreille. The marijuana plants were reported to authorities and were removed. The Clark Fork delta islands are popular with canoeists, kayakers and other recreationists, and it is an important hunting area in the fall. Due to the fact that grow patches are sometimes protected by the growers, state officials said recreationists heading to the islands should stay clear of patches of marijuana plants they may encounter. Individuals in the area who see patches of marijuana are encouraged to contact a local law enforcement agency.
