Obituary: Davis, David Albert

Age 95

DAVIS, David Albert (Age 95) Surrounded by family and his wife of 71 years Betty, Dave ‘D.A.’

Davis passed peacefully this week following a lifetime filled with family, farming, many friends and activities in and around Lind - his home for most of his life.

When not tending to his wheat farming operation, D.A.

served as a referee for Lind High School basketball games and contributed as a member of the Lind School Board.

He was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star and achieved the title of Master Mason after serving over 50 years.

As a Shriner he joined others entertaining crowds riding mini-bikes in parades while helping identify children in need for the Shriners Hospital for Children in Spokane.

He was a member of the Eugene Kirby American Legion Post 190 for more than 60 years.

Dave met Betty Phillips while students in Lind, graduating together from Lind High School in 1939.

Dave attended Eastern and joined the Boeing Company in Renton before the draft in 1942 swept him into the U.S. Army to serve in Alaska and the Philippines.

Between assignments Dave married Betty Phillips in Lind, January 29, 1944.

Following his service in the Army, Dave and Berry settled on their farm near Lind where they raised six children.

Later Dave and Betty enjoyed traveling with their home-away-from-home travel trailer.

He is survived by his wife of 71 years Betty, daughter Sue Ellen Johnson (Norma Dalla Santa) of Newcastle, WA; Richard Davis (Shannon) of Lind; Penny Delaunay (Norman Hansen) of Brier, WA; Dixie Davis of Newcastle; and Priscilla Weaver (Reid) of Monroe, WA.

Preceding Dave in death were youngest daughter Shannon Hentges and grandson Jackson Weaver.

Dave and Betty have 12 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren and numerous nieces, nephews and their families.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Wednesday, June 17th at 1:30 at the Lind Community Church.
