Obama appeasing Iran

Almost everyone who experienced World War II damned British Prime Minister Neville Chamberlain for appeasing German Chancellor Adolf Hitler in Munich.

Germany was sufficiently strengthened to make possible its European conquests. Had war come in 1938, it would have been a much smaller conflict against a much weaker Germany.

President Obama’s appeasement of Iran ensures that, if war comes, Iran will be much stronger than it otherwise might be. A regional war threatening millions may now become a world war threatening billions.

In human affairs, the worst wounds are always self-inflicted. Germany almost conquered the world, murdering nearly every Jewish person in its power. Iran, or a successor state, threatens to do the same today. It took only 11 months for Germany to consolidate its post-Munich gains. The storm may come upon us all much sooner than we think, possibly even before the 2016 election.

Winston Churchill, Chamberlain’s successor, never hid how close Britain came to defeat two years after Munich. The next president, and the world, may not be as fortunate. We could descend into a new Dark Age of tyranny, poverty and savagery. If it does, what was signed between Obama and the ayatollahs will be a major cause.
