Eastern Washington announces times for football games
Game times for all 11 Eastern Washington football games this season have been finalized, the school announced Thursday.
All five Eagles home games will be played in the afternoon, starting with a 1:05 kickoff against Big Conference rival Montana State in a designated nonconference game.
EWU home game on Oct. 31 against Weber State and Nov. 14 at Montana will also be televised by ROOT, and will start at 12:05 but could be moved to 12:35 once ROOT’s NBA schedule is finalized.
Eastern’s other three home games – Cal Poly (1:05 on Oct. 10), Northern Arizona (3:05 on Nov. 7) and Portland State (2:05 on Nov. 21) will be televised regionally by SWX.
Only two night games are on the schedule. The season opener at Oregon kicks off at 5 on Sept. 5 and the Big Sky opener at Sacramento State is set for 6:05 on Sept. 26.
Eastern athletic director Bill Chaves said the school prefers early-season home games in the evenings to take advantage of the warm weather, but that wasn’t possible because of contractual obligations.
“We know that kickoffs later in the day may be more desirable early in the season, but that wasn’t an option this year,” Chaves said. “We do know our game-day environment will be exciting and fun for our fans, no matter what time the games begin.”
