People: Foster nominated for TV director’s awards

From Wire Reports

Jodie Foster is up for a pair of awards for directing comedy and drama on television.

The Directors Guild of America announced TV nominees Wednesday for its annual honors, and Foster’s name was called twice: in the drama series category for an episode of “House of Cards” and in the comedy series category for an installment of “Orange is the New Black.”

Other dramatic contenders include Dan Attias and Lesli Linka Glatter for separate episodes of “Homeland,” Cary Fukunaga for “True Detective” and Alex Graves for “Game of Thrones.” Competing in the comedy category are Louis C.K. for “Louie,” Mike Judge for “Silicon Valley,” Gail Mancuso for “Modern Family” and Jill Soloway for “Transparent.”

Film and television winners will be announced at a Feb. 7 ceremony in Beverly Hills, California.

Pratt honored by Harvard group

“Guardians of the Galaxy” star Chris Pratt has been named Man of the Year by Harvard University’s Hasty Pudding Theatricals.

Pratt also co-stars on NBC’s “Parks & Recreation” with Amy Poehler, who was named as Hasty Pudding Woman of the Year last week.

Jason Hellerstein, president of the student group, said, “We vehemently deny that the members of the Hasty Pudding Theatricals are obsessed with ‘Parks & Recreation.’ ”

Wednesday’s announcement said Pratt became “a bona fide Hollywood heavyweight” in the past year.

Pratt will receive his pudding pot Feb. 6 following a parade through Harvard Square and a roast. Poehler will be honored Jan. 29.

Hasty Pudding Theatricals is the nation’s oldest undergraduate drama troupe, dating to the late 18th century.
