The Value of Common Weedy Native Plants, and Fire Effects on a Palouse Prairie Remnant - Although a few native plants can be weedy or aggressive, they are often important in the native plant community. Kinnikinnick Native Plant Society – On Saturday, the “Survivors: Tracing the Story of Native Plants in our Region” presentation will trace the stories of several very different native plants from the region. Beginning with their first collections by David Douglas in the 1820s and 1830s, through a surprising variety of times and places. On March 28, there will be a presentation entitled, “Kootenay Camas Project: Ecology and Distribution of Camas,” including information on the Kootenay Camas Project, the ecology and distribution of camas, lessons learned from citizen science and school projects, and beautiful pictures.
