Chuck Barney Tribune News Service

Don’t miss

“SNL 40th Anniversary Special”: Party on, Garth! The sketch show that introduced us to so many future comedy stars and memorable catchphrases celebrates four decades of hilarity. Many of the brightest “Saturday Night Live” alums are on the guest list, including Mike Myers, Tina Fey, Chevy Chase, Adam Sandler, Will Ferrell, Molly Shannon and even Eddie Murphy, who hasn’t graced Studio 8H since 1984. Well, isn’t that special? 8 p.m. Sunday, NBC.

WEDNESDAY: After seven seasons of killer twists and turns, “The Mentalist” finishes its run with back-to-back episodes. In the second hour, Jane (Simon Baker) and Lisbon (Robin Tunney) decide to tie the knot, but a murderer’s revenge plot could spoil their happy ending. 8 p.m., CBS.

THURSDAY: Remake “The Odd Couple”? Why not. Matthew Perry and Thomas Lennon star as Oscar Madison and Felix Unger in an update of the 1970s sitcom about two divorced men who become roommates, despite being polar opposites. 8:30 p.m., CBS.

THURSDAY: After 12 seasons of below-the-belt hilarity, headline-making turmoil and a few cast changes, “Two and a Half Men” wraps things up with an hourlong finale that recalls the life – and presumed death – of Charlie Harper. 9 p.m., CBS.

FRIDAY: “August Wilson: The Ground On Which I Stand” is the latest installment of the “American Experience” documentary series. The film captures the life and legacy of the man some call America’s Shakespeare. 9 p.m., KSPS/KCDT.
