Men’s basketball: Love scores career-high 28 in Pirates’ win
Kenny Love scored a career-high 28 points and second-ranked Whitworth used a 14-1 run late in the second half to get past Calvin at the D3hoops.com Classic in Las Vegas.
Love made 6 of 13 shots from the field, 4 of 8 3-pointers and 12 of 13 free throws. His previous career high was 26 last season against Linfield.
Christian Jurlina, George Valle and Drew Sears all added eight points for the Pirates (10-0). Calvin fell to 4-6.
Whitworth will play Mary Hardin-Baylor at the tournament on Wednesday.
North Idaho 86, Miles City 65: Brayon Blake had 31 points and 11 rebounds and the Cardinals (18-0) topped the Pioneers (7-5) at a tournament in Coeur d’Alene.
Haywood Irwin hit four 3-pointers and added 17 points for North Idaho, which will play in the title game on Wednesday.
