High wind watch issued for Central Oregon, south Washington coasts

Associated Press

PORTLAND – The National Weather Service has issued a high wind watch starting late Saturday that includes the central Oregon coast up through the south Washington coast.

The agency said there was a potential for winds up to 40 mph with gusts up to 65 mph on beaches and headlands about midnight Saturday through Sunday morning. The high winds could make travel along the coast hazardous.

It also said saturated soils could make trees more susceptible to toppling in strong winds, causing damage and power disruptions.
