Women’s soccer: Washington State extends contract of head coach Todd Shulenberger
Washington State University director of athletics Bill Moos announced Thursday a contract extension through June 30, 2020, for head women’s soccer coach Todd Shulenberger.
Terms of the deal were not announced.
During Shulenberger’s first season, the Cougars finished 14-6-0 and advanced to postseason for a fifth consecutive year. WSU placed third in the Pac-12 Conference and compiled 34 goals during the season.
“Todd, and his staff, did a tremendous job this past season,” Moos said in a press release. “Keeping Cougar soccer in the national spotlight, competing for conference championships and competing in the postseason are the goals at Washington State.”
“I want to thank Bill Moos and (deputy director of athletics/SWA) Anne McCoy for their commitment and trust in me,” Shulenberger said. “We are looking forward to taking this WSU soccer program deeper in the future. With our success this season, and the new soccer facilities being built in the coming months, I think there’s a lot of excitement around this Cougar soccer program.”
WSU junior forward Kaitlyn Johnson and sophomore forward Kourtney Guetlein were selected to the Division I All-Region second team by the National Soccer Coaches Association of American.
Cougars freshman goalkeeper Ella Dederick and senior midfielder Cara Wegner made the third team.
