The Dirt: IdentityMind Global opens Spokane Valley office

California-based IdentityMind Global, which offers a risk management platform for e-commerce and financial institutions, has opened a Spokane Valley office at 15920 E. Indiana Ave.

IdentityMind is hiring for its office here with plans to add 25 to 30 employees, in addition to the six to eight employees now in the space.

Leasing 3,000 square feet with the ability to expand up to 6,000 square feet, this is the company’s second location besides its Palo Alto headquarters.

IdentityMind also plans to open offices on the East Coast and in Asia by the end of the year. Last month, the company announced a round of investor financing to support its growth.

Financial institutions can use IndentityMind’s service to manage their global risk and comply with regulatory guidance, such as for fraud prevention, the company said. Clients of IdentityMind include banks, money service businesses, mobile commerce, online commerce and virtual currency businesses across North America, Asia, Europe and Latin America.

Around the Board to offer games, food

A board game-themed cafe is launching this month in Spokane at 829 W. Riverside Ave. Owner Jennifer DeHart plans a Saturday opening for Around the Board, in a leased 3,000-square-foot space.

With seating for about 50 people, the cafe will have a “Where’s Waldo” wall, a large chalkboard wall for Pictionary, and four built-in tabletop games for chess, checkers, backgammon and Scrabble. The restaurant will serve sandwiches and espresso drinks. Around the Board also will have game-themed décor, and DeHart plans to offer game tournaments, trivia nights, private-party rentals and other events.

The board game cafe concept has been popular in Asia and Canada for a few years. While some cafes require a cover charge of $5 for access to hundreds of board games, DeHart said her cafe won’t charge a fee. Instead, she plans to draw income from patrons ordering from the eatery and by selling games and game cafe-themed merchandise.

Leasing agents Ryan Towner and John Powers of NAI Black handled the transaction along with listing agent Chris Bornhoft of Windermere Manito Commercial.
