EWU losing starting forward Miljkovic

Started 33 games for NCAA-bound Eagles

Eastern Washington forward Ognjen Miljkovic is leaving the program, the school announced today. Miljkovic, a 6-foot-7 redshirt sophomore from Serbia, started 33 of 34 games this year, averaging 9.7 points and 3.1 rebounds to help the Eagles reach the NCAA Tournament for the first time in 11 years. Milkovic’s immediate plans weren’t revealed, but EWU coach Jim Hayford said that “Ognjen has determined for personal reasons that is is best for him to complete his career at another school.” Miljkovic played in 59 games for Eastern over a two-year career. His departure means that Eastern will return only one starter from last year’s squad, power forward Venky Jois. The Eagles had already lost guards Drew Brandon and Parker Kelly to graduation. Two weeks ago, national scoring leader Tyler Harvey made himself available for the NBA draft. Hayford said of Miljkovic, “We wish him the best and thank him for all he has given to the program.”
