Woman dies in collision with patrol car near Ephrata

A woman died after a collision Saturday morning with a Grant County sheriff’s deputy about 7 miles south of Ephrata, Washington.

The woman was identified as McKenna B. Fuglie, 22, of Ephrata, according to the Washington State Patrol, which is investigating the incident.

Fuglie was driving a 1996 Jeep Cherokee east on Road 5 NW, and Deputy Tyson J. Voss, 39, was driving a Chevrolet pickup south on Dodson Road. The two vehicles collided in the intersection about 10 a.m. The cause of the crash is under investigation, the WSP said.

Voss was taken to Samaritan Hospital in Moses Lake and was later released, Sheriff Tom Jones said on Facebook.

Fuglie died at the scene.

“This is a heartbreaking day for all parties involved,” Jones said in a statement. “We wish to extend our sincerest condolences, as well as prayers for strength, to the families sadly and tragically affected by today’s horrible accident.”
