Three garage fires under investigation

The Spokane Fire Department is investigating an early Wednesday fire in North Spokane that destroyed one garage and damaged two others nearby. Firefighters responded to 1217 W. Chelan Ave. at 3:47 a.m. for a reported garage fire, and discovered that the fire had spread to two other garages. Crews quickly extinguished all three fires. A cause has not been determined and is under investigation. One garage was destroyed, while a second suffered extensive damage to about 25 percent of the structure. Damage to the third garage was light. Total damage was estimated at $35,000.
