Man stabbed in Post Falls Sunday night

From staff reports
Post Falls police say alcohol likely fueled a fight that resulted in a man being stabbed on the finger on Sunday night. A man and his girlfriend arrived at a home on the 400 block of West 15th Avenue around 5 p.m. Sunday to drop off the homeowner’s child, whom they had been babysitting. The man said that the homeowner, Scott G. Steenburgh, 45, aggressively confronted them after coming out of the home, a news release from the police said. Steenburgh pulled a pocket knife and held it to the man’s neck at one point, the victim told police. Steenburgh’s girlfriend witnessed this and jumped on Steenburgh’s back to get him to stop, the release said. During a short struggle, the man was able to get the knife away from Steenburgh, but suffered a 2-3 inch cut on his left pinky finger. Initially, Steenburgh ran into the house and refused to answer the door for police, the release said. However, he eventually went to the police department and was taken into custody without further incident. He was booked into the Kootenai County Jail on suspicion of aggravated battery and domestic battery. The victim was treated for his injuries at the scene.
