Inland NW LGBT Center announces closure

The Inland Northwest LGBT Center will be closing its doors at the end of the month, according to a post from the center’s Facebook page. The monthly cost of keeping the center open, at 9414A E. First Ave. in Spokane Valley, exceeded donations from the community, the post said. First founded in 1997 as the Rainbow Regional Community Center, the center provides services to the Eastern Washington and Northern Idaho lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender community, including cultural competency training for medical professionals, counseling services and a variety of workshops. The center plans to put out a formal announcement soon.
