Prep Roundup: Mt. Spokane sweeps Gonzaga Prep, Rogers in cross country
Mt. Spokane had a pack of four runners finish within a second of each other, helping the Wildcats boys defeat Gonzaga Prep 17-41 and Rogers 15-50 in Greater Spokane League cross country at Finch Arboretum on Wednesday.
Dorian Miller was the top finisher in 17:29 followed by teammates John and Hayden Dressel and Ian Figon. Prep’s Houston Eymann was fifth in 17:52.
The Mt. Spokane girls defeated G-Prep 25-31 and Rogers 15-50. Prep’s Ann Maloney won the race and was eight seconds ahead of Mt. Spokane’s Micaea Kostecka.
• Central Valley’s Briton Demars won the boy’s race by moe than 30 seconds with a time of 16:32 as the Bears swept Lewis and Clark and Shadle Park on both the boys’ and girls’ sides. SP’s Lauren Dunnell won the girl’s race in 19:15. The CV girls had four finishers in the top 10.
• The University boys and Mead girls won at Liberty Lake County Park. Mead’s Corbin Carlton won the boys’ race, but U-Hi had the next three finishers in a 27-28 win. The Mead girls won 22-37.
• The North Central boys and Ferris girls won at Audubon Park. Justin Janke finished first in 15:55, helping NC to a 20-41 win. NC’s Kaelah Corrigan held off Anisa Allaet of Ferris, but the Saxons held off NC 28-31.
• The East Valley boys and girls swept Clarkston 15-45 and 27-36. Scott Kopczynski led an EV top-five sweep, finishing in 16:57.
