Ellensburg angler sets record with bluefin tuna catch
OLYMPIA, Wash. — An Ellensburg angler has set a new Washington record by catching a Pacific bluefin tuna weighing just over 39 pounds.
The state Department of Fish and Wildlife confirmed Tuesday that the 41-inch fish caught by Sam Ellinger set a new record.
The Central Washington University student caught the fish off the Washington coast near Grays Harbor.
It beat the previous Pacific bluefin tuna by nearly 3 pounds.
