Geri was preceded in death by her brothers Jim and Martin Burns and sisters Druceilla Williams and Mary Moland.
Geri was a very active and involved person in numerous organizations, enjoyed serving others and in self-improvement.
She attended Grace Baptist Church where she was an active member singing in the church choir, serving on committees, a member of Story League, and was always there to provide her help whether it be a church dinner, talent show or catering wedding receptions.
She was a sales representative with Sarah Coventry jewelry for many years.
She was a 61 year member of Chapter M, PEO serving as president from 1957 to 1959.
Geri advanced from a demonstrator at Darigold Farms to managing the Hostess Room at their newly built plant which provided a meeting room for groups and tours of the facility.
She was then promoted to executive secretary to the general manager.
After her 20 year career at Darigold, she moved into real estate which led her to the retirement industry where she was hired by the American Baptist Association to develop selling condos for a whole new concept in retirement living.
This resulted in the construction of Holman Gardens.
After selling all the condos, she was appointed by the Board of Directors to become the manager of Holman Gardens.
She also served as a Director on the American Baptist Association Board which included Lilac Plaza retirement home.
After Geri retired from Holman Gardens, Geri and Tom were hired by Rockwood Retirement Communities and teamed up to handle the sales and marketing department.
Then they moved to manage the Charitable Foundation.
At the age of 84, after working at Rockwood for 10 years, she retired for the last time.
Geri stayed active in her retirement years by continuing her love of dancing with the “Happy Feet Cloggers”.
The dance group performed throughout Spokane at community centers, the Spokane County Fair and numerous other events.
Geri had a fulfilling and active life; however her passion was to be around people including family and friends.
She was loved by many and we will treasure the memories she has left us with from a life that was well lived.
Please join us in a Celebration of Geri’s life at a Memorial Service to be held on Saturday, December 27, at 11:00 a.m. at the Sunset Chapel at Fairmount Memorial Park, 5200 W. Wellesley.
