COMING UP: Tonight vs. Texas State, 7; Saturday vs. Texas-San Antonio, 7

OUTLOOK: After four consecutive losses, the Vandals broke through Saturday with a dominant win at UT-Arlington. They play two more WAC newcomers from Texas at Cowan Spectrum as they look to inch their way back up the standings. UI has four straight at home, and the goal for coach Don Verlin is to clean up turnovers and become a stronger rebounding team. “I really believe we can make a run at this thing,” said Verlin. “But we have to take care of our home court.” Texas State snapped a nine-game losing streak last week by beating UTSA and have the league’s third-leading scorer in Joel Wright (16.4 ppg).
